Overview of topics
Julie Freeman: Corporate Reputation Matters-Attracting and Retaining Employees
Often when we talk of corporate reputation, we are thinking in terms of a company's reputation with its external stakeholders. But recent global research shows that a company's reputation is a factor in attracting and retaining employees. Learn why employees want to work for a company with a good reputation and how to manage reputation so that employees are fully engaged.
Bish Mukherjee: International Trends in Communications
Knowledge of the latest international trends in communication is vital for any communicator in today’s jet age to succeed in his/her professional career.
- CSR is not a warm fuzzy fad – why CSR requires strong collaboration between HR and internal communicators
- Unbundling the blog
- What is employee engagement and how do we increase employee engagement in our organisations?
Gloria Walker: Issues management-Identifying and handling strategic issues with external stakeholders
Issues management is the process of prioritizing and proactively addressing public policy and reputation issues that can affect an organization's success. Many organizations in both the public and private sectors use issues management to keep all their external relations activities focused on high-priority challenges and opportunities.
- A review of issues management basics
- Real-world applicable information and step-by-step processes during case study exercise
- Idea-sharing through peer interactio
Jim Truscott: Crisis Management – Media Induced Simulation
In this fast moving extended session, conference participants are grouped as Crisis Teams in the Boardroom in response to a simulated media induced crisis. Delegates experience what it is like for a team of executives to implement crisis strategies in the boardroom and deliver effective leadership under pressure. This enables participants to think strategically under pressure and win time in crisis. The experience shows that all executives emerge with cohesion when they participate in extreme leadership sessions and prove that they can align their communications with the operational response. In an era when anyone can be a blogger and every crisis has an internet dimension this activity will equip participants with the skills and attitude to regain control by responding to the media covering the event or issue and by seeking to retain the messaging initiative.
-
Activating the virtual press office with pre-packaged media to go and interfacing with the Call Centre.
- Monitoring, analysing and responding to media coverage; treating the media not as a threat but as a resource to be exploited.
- Turning the camera on in people’s minds by preparing spokespersons for first and subsequent contact with the media
Simon Covill: Thinking brand? Don’t leave the employees behind!
Organisations are increasingly realizing employees are their most important asset, yet they continue to focus on other stakeholders and hope that employees will “just get it”. To survive and thrive, an effective “internal brand” is critical if organisations are going to deliver on their brand promise. But what is the internal brand and what role do communicators play in it?
Delegates discover
- how to develop a strong internal brand that will set the organisation apart from competitors and
- what communicators need to do to make this happen.
Adrian Cropley: Communicating Change: it can catapult you to the zenith or nadir of your career
Change may be constant in organisations today, but with an understanding of the change process and a more targeted strategic communications program it is simple. Participants at the end of this session will have a greater understanding of:
- The emotional journey during change
- Defining and managing stakeholders & Champions
- Creating effective channels during change
You will also hear about the case study: effective workplace change at the Ernst & Young relocations in Australia nationally. |
